Details & measurements

The Mezuzah is a sacred scroll of parchment with a prayer from the David Roytman Luxury Judaica Design House “Shema Yisrael”. It is God's address to the people of Israel, calling them to remember him and promising his blessing in return. According to tradition, the mezuzah scroll is attached to the doorjamb in every Jewish home.

The collection of exclusive mezuzah cases “Safed” is dedicated to one of the main spiritual centers of Israel, along with Jerusalem. According to legends, Safed was founded by Noah's son after the Flood. It is now one of the four holy cities for Jews.

The case is made of cow leather and bronze.
In the center is a miniature bas-relief - the traditional letter “Shin”, the first letter of one of God's names, Shadai. It means “the fire of God that devours all His enemies” and is a protective symbol.

Making & delivery

Each piece is made to order in the atelier. Preparation 1–5 business days, delivery 7–21 business days with tracking. Questions before you order — write to us and a person answers.

CHAI · MADE TO MEAN SOMETHING

The case on the doorpost says something before the door opens.

This is the signature case of the house: the silhouette David Roytman also makes in carbon fiber and python. In brown leather it is the version that suits most doors, which is why it became the standard new-home gift, ordered in pairs and threes when a family moves.

Case only; the scroll comes from your sofer.

Made when you order

Nothing here sits in a warehouse. Your piece is cut, stitched and finished after you order it — preparation takes 1–5 business days.

Shipping is in the price

Worldwide, insured, tracked. The price on this page is the price at checkout — shipping included.

Engraved by hand

A name, a date, a line — engraved by hand on the piece, on the alder wood box, or both. This is what turns a purchase into a gift that gets kept.

A person answers

Sizing, timing for a wedding or bar mitzvah, a custom request — write to us before you order and a person answers, not a bot.

“If you want something done right, do it yourself.”

David Roytman heard it from his commander in the IDF and built the house on it. From Odesa, through collaborations with Valentin Yudashkin, to an atelier where every CHAI piece is finished by hand. Chai spells life. Every piece here is one chosen finish, no options to scroll through. He chose, so you don't have to.
