Who Israel Yehuda Morgenshtern is
Alisher Tagirovich Morgenshtern was born Valeyev and took his mother's surname as a teenager. He built his career as a rapper in Russia and left the country in 2022.
In June 2026 he completed giyur before a rabbinical court in Israel, immersed in a mikveh, and took the Hebrew name Israel Yehuda. Written out in Hebrew it is ישראל יהודה מורגנשטרן. He has spent the period since studying and giving public talks on Torah.

770 or Modern
The 770 is the bigger of the two. The name points to 770 Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn, and the shape is the deeper, wider one most people picture when they think of a kippah worn all day. It sits lower on the head and holds position on most hair without a clip.
The Modern is shallower and sits closer to the crown. It reads flatter, disappears under a hat, and is the easier one to wear in an office.
If you cannot decide, buy the 770. It is the more forgiving fit of the two, and it is the one people reorder.
Why hemp
Hemp is the point of this collection. The rest of the kippah range here runs to velvet, suede, denim, leather and exotic skins, all of which hold heat. Hemp breathes, and it does not sit hot against the scalp through a long summer service. It also softens with wear rather than stiffening.
Both pieces are edged in Italian leather. That is the part doing the structural work, holding the shape once the hemp relaxes.

There are 191 kippot on this site. Most are built around a surface material: Modern in its many finishes, velvet, suede, the Brooklyn and Costume sets. These two are the only hemp pieces, and they are the only ones made with an outside collaborator.

The T-shirt keeps the layered construction of a tallit katan but replaces the opening with a normal T-shirt neckline, so it works as the only shirt rather than a layer underneath one. Full measurements are on the product page.
Questions people ask
Is hemp acceptable for a kippah? A kippah has no required material. Cotton, wool, leather, velvet, suede and synthetics are all in ordinary use, and hemp sits alongside them.
Is this an authorised collaboration? Yes. Both kippot are sold as the Collaborative Collection by Israel Yehuda Morgenshtern and David Roytman.
What size should I order? Both kippot are made in one size. The figures above are the measurements as listed on each product page. For the tallit katan and the T-shirt, use the size table on the product page rather than your usual shirt size.
